Mike on Iceland
Road trip through Iceland

Hello, I'm Miguel Angel Nadal, also known as Mike. I'm a frontend developer specialized on React, JavaScript and TypeScript. I like coding web apps, share and teach knowledge about frontend, and above all, I love my family, friends and traveling.

I'm a software developer graduated in Multimedia Engineering. I was born in 1992 in Valencia, Spain. I've been living here all my life with the exception of living in the UK for almost a year. After graduating at the University of Valencia, I started working at IBM Viewnext using Java, jQuery and Liferay for a year and a half. An opportunity came along and I moved to the UK for a while, where I began to explore and develop with newer frameworks.

I got a job at PCMS Group (currently known as Flooid) building PoS software with Angular. At this point in time is when I realized that what I really enjoy doing is frontend development (although I don't mind to be a fullstack developer). I came back to Valencia and joined a startup named HomySpace. I started working with React, TypeScript, Jest, AWS and all the frameworks that I used nowadays and I enjoy developing with.

My previous job was at New Work / XING. Here I managed to work as a Frontend Developer and also as an Android Developer using Kotlin. Is always cool to learn new languages and they gave me the opportunity to do it, which I really appreciate! (but I'm not going to lie, frontend is where I belong). On my current job, I'm developing as frontend for CommerceTools.

Technologies that I use and I'm familiar with

  • For the frontend: React, TypeScript, JavaScript, GraphQL, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, HTML5, CSS3.
  • For the backend: Java, Kotlin, NodeJS
  • Tech & frameworks that I know but I don't use as often: Angular, Vue, JSP, Liferay, AWS

What do you prefer being called, Miguel or Mike?
Up to you. I'm used to both now, and now “Miguel” is being used more as a formal name and for my family members. But hey, which one do you like more?
How long have you been developing?
I've been writing code for web applications for the past 8 years.
